$425 Detachable Jeans Convert Into Booty Shorts [PICS]

Denim jeans are a classic wardrobe staple, which means they are always being reinvented — for better, for worse, and for the downright strange. As of late, we’ve seen some interesting takes on the piece: Jeans covered in mud selling for for $425. Styles with a zipper in the back that can be unzipped to show your tushie to everyone behind you. Topshop sold a pair of jeans with clear paneling at the knees (lovingly called jindows,) and topped that by selling “jeans” that are made of completely clear plastic. Because who needs their pants to actually cover what’s going on wearing underneath, right?

The latest in unconventional denim comes from Y/Project, which clearly wants you to have as many jean options as possible — no matter how wacky those options may be. The brand is offering a pair of detachable cut-out front jeans, which boast a set of buttons fastening the lower part of the jeans to the upper part. Remove the lower half, and you’re left with a pair of high-cut booty shorts.

To be fair, the look is lowkey perfect given the unpredictable weather patterns we continue to experience. Like, if you left your house in the morning and it was 60 degrees, but by lunchtime it’s 85 degrees, these would probably be a great ridiculous-but-functional option.

Y/Project is selling other weird jeans, including a similar pair with side cutouts and these deconstructed garter strap jeans, which we could actually see a bold style maven like Rihanna rocking the heck out of.

If you’re on board with the weird jeans trend, you can cop this convertible pair for $425 at Opening Ceremony.
