Southern California cops arrested former NBA badboy Dennis Rodman for alleged drunken driving, forcing him into an overnight stay behind bars, authorities said Sunday.
Rodman, 56, was pulled over in the 4500 West Coast Highway in Newport Beach at 11 p.m. Saturday for unspecified vehicle code violations, city police Lt. Rachel Johnson said.
He failed a field sobriety test and consented to a breathalyzer exam, where he blew a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of .08, according to Johnson.
Rodman was taken to the city jail booked for alleged DUI before where he was released without bail at 6:15 a.m.
The Hall of Fame forward Rodman, nicknamed “The Worm,” played in 14 NBA – most notbaly for the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, where he won five NBA titles.
Rodman’s rep tells TMZ, “Alcoholism has been a struggle on and off for Dennis the past 15 years,” adding he’s been going through some “tough personal issues.” The rep says he’s going to talk to Dennis about going back to rehab.
