Seven-year-old Gracie held a garage sale in 2013 to raise money for her school’s music program in St. Andrews – it raised $605. Then in March the next year, Gracie passed away. Her grandparents continued the garage sale since then, to honour both her and a boy from her school, Gordon, who was also seven when he died in a car accident. That first year, the family raised $7,000.
Gordon’s family has joined the fundraiser this year, and it’s become so big it moved from a home garage to the St. Andrews Community Club. All money raised helps support both St. Andrews School and the Community Club – and all items left over from the sale are given to charity.
Last year, around 2000 people participated and raised just over $20,000. This year’s event will have a silent auction, a BBQ and pizza, entertainment provided by students from St. Andrews School, and free bouncers, face painting, and train rides!
Since it’s the 5th year, it’s bound to be bigger and better. Don’t miss it!
