Batman may be Gotham’s hero, but on Thursday night, the Bat-Signal will be shining bright in Los Angeles to honor the late Adam West.
DC Comics has announced plans for a special tribute to the actor, who died Friday at the age of 88. Before Michael Keaton or Ben Affleck donned the Batsuit, West starred as the Caped Crusader in the classic 1960s Batman TV series.
At Los Angeles City Hall on Thursday at 9 p.m., Mayor Eric Garcetti and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck will light the Bat-Signal, which in the Batman franchise serves as the call for the hero’s help. The release announcing the news teases the additional appearance of “surprise Bat-guests.”
Fans are urged to attend in their best Batman outfits. For those unable to attend, West’s family encourages donations to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Camp Rainbow Gold.
