Madonna was asked how she feels about her old hits, including “Like a Virgin”, “Papa Don’t Preach”,“Like a Prayer”, and “Vogue”… and she kind of CRINGES.
She told the “New York Times”, quote, “If I’m out somewhere, and one of my songs starts playing, I just go, ‘Ugh,’ probably because I’ve had to hear it five billion times already, and I want to escape that.”
She also says she’s still upset about her 2015 album, “Rebel Heart”, being leaked months ahead of time, and how that hurt sales.
She said, quote, “There are no words to describe how devastated I was. It took me a while to recover, and put such a bad taste in my mouth I wasn’t really interested in making music. I felt raped.”
Of all the words she could’ve grasped at, using ‘raped’ as a metaphor, no matter how upset she was, wasn’t the best idea. But this is Madonna, she knew that would get under some people’s skin.
Elsewhere in the article, we also learn that she has a print of John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics to “Imagine” hung over the toilet.
