The tiny handheld game, originally launched back in 1996, that was instantly banned at schools for being super addictive and maybe even slightly annoying… is BACK!
In Japan, Tamagotchi maker Bandai has launched 6 brand new pets for about $25 Canadian dollars each. The original Tamagotchi sold over 80 million units worldwide.
The name Tamagotchi actually comes from the Japanese word for egg, ‘tamago’, and the English word ‘watch’, don’t say you never learn anything from me!
For now it’s a Japan only release so if you’re looking to score one, searching online is your only option. Keep an eye out for a North American release later this year.
