Does your kid want to be Winnipeg’s mayor? Now they can apply for a day on the job.
Mayor Brian Bowman has announced a contest to appoint the first child mayor between the ages of eight and 12.
The winning applicant would join Bowman for a day and pitch an idea to city councillors on how to make Winnipeg a better place to live. They’ll also “cut a ribbon or two, and even host their own press conference,” a city release notes.
Applicants must explain what they think mayors do, and what they would do to make Winnipeg a better place to live, and why, in less than 250 words.
Applications can also be made by video, if preferred. Submissions must be made on the city website or mail by April 3.
