If you’ve ever had a child in the hospital, you know how stressful and painful it can be for all. Joey Halldorsson of Selkirk knows the pain & stress all too well. He lost his son, Korbin in Oct. 2021 at just 17, after being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at birth. Korbin spent lots of time in and out of hospitals and to help take his mind off his health issues, Joe brought in his Playstation for his stays at the hospital, which allowed Korbin to be a “kid”, if only for a little bit.
“That was the only thing that really got him out of thinking of his muscular dystrophy, or thinking about the pain, or when they were going to come to pull his blood,” Joe said.
But went Korbin realized not all the kids had a console to play too, he told his dad he wanted to help. It took about a year to gain the strength, but Joe has now created Korbin’s Wish to fundraise money for the gaming systems in honour of his son and hopes it will continue to grow!
