The iCan Bike camp teaches children ages 8 and up living with a disability (autism, developmental delays, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy) how to ride a 2-wheel bike independently. Over the course of camp riders transition from specialized equipment to a 2-wheel coaster bike as they learn the skills needed to balance and steer a bike on their own. For the 2nd year, Variety Manitoba has put on this camp.
Each child needs 2 volunteer spotters to support them during their time at the iCan Bike camp. Volunteer spotters follow their rider who will drive back and forth inside an arena (Monday-Wednesday) and outside in a parking lot (Thursday to Friday). The spotters are needed to encourage the child, provide support and ensure the child does not fall. iCan Bike Camp is coming July 3rd-7th and July 10-14th at the East end Arena located at 570 Pandora Ave E in Transcona.
